Are you missing the point on Blogging?

When blogging you are selling yourself and your niche, giving people information on your chosen niche and trying to be recognized for the value of that information.
That being said, the quickest way to put your blog and through it, your reputation in the toilet is to start advertising on your blog. There are many other avenues on the INTERNET to do your advertising ( I can point you in the right direction if you wish) but one of them is NOT, and I repeat NOT your blog. If you do you will be shooting yourself in the foot so to speak and your hard work will be for nothing. Think of it like a regular business, it takes years to build a good reputation for your business, but you can throw it all away in about two weeks if customer service and know how start to be questioned.
If you are blogging for an online business, what you need to do is write a product review or something of that nature, giving the virtues of the product that you are using. Google your website through https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal and see what key words are used in it. Use just a few of them in your article (5 or 6 at most) then when posting you can hyperlink to you website with one of the words. For example, if one of your key words is money, and it will be in there LOL. Hyperlink your affiliate website to that word. That way you are not blatantly advertising but you are getting your site out there.
I hope this article is helpful to everyone and will straighten out any miss conceptions on what bogging is about.
Remember rule #! on blogging, NO ADVERTISING.
Cheers and have a great day
Sincerely
Walt Webb

Hate to disagree with you, but my blog is about making money, of course I have Adsense on it.

Yes I know blogging can be about making money, and done properly it can be lucrative. The article was written so people will not just start slapping an email ad or something like that onto a Blog and think they are Blogging. You still need to add content and hopefully it is content that is informative because the bottom line is Spam is Spam even if you are calling it a so called Blog. I noticed that you are adding content on some of your sites so you do have the idea. But from your comment it was very open

Hi Walt:

I decided to come and see how you were doing and have read both your article and the comments made by Paul and Marsha regarding adsense advertising and went..I dont think they are really understanding where you are coming from, although maybe I am missing the point?

Blogging to me is all about the content! When you provide good information and answer people problems/questions,people over time will start coming to you. They learn to trust you and see you as an authority. This does not happen over night as so many hope, it does require time. Once people start coming to you because you are an intersting person, you know what you are talking about, then through that content, you can start creating a way to monetize. Adsense is just ONE way of monetizing your blog by the way, there are so many more, from money making widgets, product reviews, amazon of course...just too many options to list here.

I would ask Marsha and Paul maybe one question...how did they get people to click on those adsense links? Somehow they had to drive traffic to their sites ..yes? I would really enjoy learning their secrets...maybe they could share?

You have started a good dialogue here ..I hope that others will come and join in?

To Your Success,

Thanks Alexes, your comment may help to clear my intel message up a bit.

Fresh original content is king and I highly recommend Digital Point Forums and James Dean Nash's site if you want to improve your traffic. James has a free ebook that is about driving traffic.

As far as my blog is concerned, I don't mind experimenting and detailing where I've failed. My blog did not start out as a blog and had good traffic as an ebook site before I changed focus. It didn't start out as an Adsense site and is not optimized as such.

But as long as you have traffic...people will click on the ads.

This site however is a little more than just a blogging site, by concept this site was invisioned as a database of unique and original content, it seems though that every second post is about adsense these days, sound though your advice may be it's still just more repeated ripples in a pond. LET'S ACTUALLY HAVE SOME ORIGINAL CONTENT FOLKS!
