Allsports blew it Calling on the Mets to win the Nl at the start of the season

Well I saw on some sports news on the web, it could have been TSN, where the New York Mets had tanked again in September and missed the playoffs by a couple of games. The Brewers beat then by a single game to get the wild card position. Since I wrote an article at the start of the season, picking the Mets to be the National League Representative in the World series, I thought I should come clean and admit that I blew it backing them. If you remember the Mets did the same thing last year too, they had a horrendous September and fell off the pace. I guess Mets fans would wish the season ended August 31th instead of Sept 30th. So now the playoffs begin and I will stick my neck out and predict who will go through in the first round.First the A.L. Boston Red SoxVs LA Angels: Well Boston is one of my favourite teams, with loads of experience and after all they are the reining champs. This series is a toss up and should go to the full five games. LA had the best record in Baseball and I like Mike Scioscia as a manager. I’ll take the Angels is 5 games. Chicago White Sox Vs Tampa Bay Rays; The Rays had the 2nd best record in baseball this year and I believe they are quite legit, they had all season to fold and didnot do so. Chicago needed game 163 to get past Minnisota and used their best pitcher to do so. Their rotation could now be in trouble. I will take Tampa in 4 games. The N.L. Brewers Vs Phillies: The Phillies had a better record than the brewers, barely by 2 wins and that is a wash. What I like about the Phillies is their bullpen and I think it will be the difference in the series. Phillies in 4 games. Chicago Cubs Vs L.A. Dodgers: Chicago finished with the best record in the N.L. and seems pretty strong without any real weaknesses. The Dodgers have Manny and are a good team to win the west. For sentimental reasons alone I will take the Cubs in 4 games. To be honest I think this will finally be the year that the cubs get to the series. There is the opportunity here to have either an all Chicago World series ( there has not been a chance of that for 100 years) or an all LA series, this would be great for L.A. but bad for the rest of us because the games would on later in the evening. I don’t think either all city series is going to happen. If you would like to know a little more about these teams, there is plenty more sports news on the web about them at the links below.
